Superstar rapper 50 Cent is currently under investigation after he allegedly made a threatening post on Instagram about a New York police officer.

According to Page Six Thursday, a formal complaint has been filed against the 42-year-old rapper–whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III–after he allegedly told his followers Wednesday to “Get the strap” when referencing Deputy Inspector Emmanuel Gonzalez over what he called a shake down of a hip-hop club owner. “Strap” is slang for a gun.

“There is a formal complaint on file for Aggravated Harassment and detectives are investigating,” a NYPD spokesperson explained.

Reps for the rapper said he has used the term many times on his social media platforms and claimed it was nothing more than a “playful” phrase used to “punctuate absurd and outrageous situations.”

Following the reports, the rapper seemed to laugh off the complaint in a series of subsequent posts on his social media account.

“Oh shit, get the strap. LOL. They investigating my drip, l got too much sauce. #HipHop,” Jackson captioned his post, adding, “What the fuck is going on? Get the strap.LOL,” along with a video of a news report about the story.
