There’s been a huge amount of guessing when it comes to what Legendary Pokemon would be unleashed on Pokemon Go next.

But today Niantic have finally revealed the monster that trainers will be itching to get their hands on during upcoming raids this month, and it’s none other than Rayquaza.

The Fling and Dragon-type Pokemon first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Saphire on the GameBoy Advance, and now Pokemon Go users will be able to add the Sky High creature to their growing Pokedexes – if they’re lucky.

From February 9 until March 16, trainers will be able to discover and catch the fearsome Pokemon in Raid Battles around the world.

The Pokémon brand is celebrating the year of Legendary Pokémon in 2018, and the introduction of Rayquaza to Pokémon GO is a new addition to the many ways fans can engage with these powerful Pokémon across all of the franchise’s platforms.

Rayquaza will be joined by several Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon originally from the Hoenn region, that will also be making their first appearance in Pokémon GO starting Friday.

In celebration of over 100 Hoenn region Pokémon becoming available in the game, every Pokémon encountered in the wild from now until February 13 will be one originally discovered in the Hoenn region.
