He has already collaborated with everyone from Jay Z to Paul McCartney – and now Kanye West is looking to add another big name to his CV.

Seemingly apropos of nothing, the rapper tweeted his 28.7 million followers in the hope of getting the attention of one Mr Bob Dylan.

"Calling out to Bob Dylan. Let's get together," he wrote.

While Dylan, 77, does have an account, it appears it is looked after by his team rather than the man himself, and as yet there has been no response.

West is back on social media after deleting and reinstating his Twitter and Instagram accounts several times, and his tweet to Dylan comes among several posts about trees.

Dylan's account has most recently tweeted to promote his recently announced British Summer Time festival co-headline show with Neil Young at Hyde Park next year.

Could Kanye's tweet be the start of some beautiful music?

More from Bob Dylan

Stranger this have happened, with both the rapper and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, securing visits to the White House on separate occasions earlier in the year.

Dylan – it's over to you.
