Our apologies – it seems the game has only released in the US today, it's actually coming to the EU on December 27. Our apologies for the error.

The information came from the Rain World Twitter account, that issued the statement earlier today. We have since seen the follow-up tweet that notes us Europeans – as usual – will be slightly behind the release schedule for the game.

One of the PlayStation's best exclusive games has come to Nintendo Switch today – and if you like your inventive platform puzzlers, you need to take note.

Called Rain World, the indie game is one of the most complex, inventive platformers we've seen in the industry over the last few years.

Released originally back in 2017, Rain World is a survival platformer video game in which the player controls a part-slug, part-cat creature searching a hostile, derelict world for its family.

Sound good? It gets better.

The Slugcat uses debris as weapons to escape randomized enemies, forage for food, and reach safe hibernation rooms before a deadly torrential rain arrives.

If you're a fan of tough as nails game, this is a title for you.

From the outset, you're given very little indication about what you're supposed to do, where you're supposed to go, or how you're supposed to play the game. It's a massive experience with over 1600 screens to figure out the connection between.

Thanks to AI-powered enemies and randomly generated threats, you're compelled to search as out and progress as quickly as you can: a slow, methodological trail-and-error approach is not your best chance of progressing in this game.

From the inventive gameplay setup to the phenomenal art and pixel-work in the game, Rain World is a stunning feat of game design and something you should be looking into if you're after something gripping and thoughtful to play on your Switch.

Though the game received mixed-to-low review scores at launch, a series of updates released for the title in December 2017 resulted in a game that was slightly fairer, more responsive to player inputs and added more content to the game.

The Nintendo Switch version launches with all this already live in the game – so you're getting the best version of the title ou can possibly receive at launch.

We really do think this title is something special and urge anyone that can to give it a go.

We hope you find it as interesting as we did!
