David Olshanetsky is following in Amy Schumers footsteps with a Spotify Original podcast

Okay, perhaps we were being a little dramatic there – David Olshanetsky never stalked Lena Dunham if were getting into specifics.

But the 20-year-old, who follows in Amy Schumers footsteps in launching a Spotify original podcast today, does believe he might be the reason the writer and director had to change her email address.

You see, as a budding writer at the age of 14, he contacted the then-rising star, who had just released the first season of Girls, with a script proposal.

Guessing her email address, it actually worked, and soon he was in conversation with Lena herself.

I wrote a script, it was in Word, not even in the right software. It wasnt in comic sans, but it might as well have been. The whole thing was not to industry standards, he laughed as he recounted the story to Metro.co.uk.

It was after the first season of one, it was [email protected]. I can say it now because shes changed it.

Anyway, I thought I would throw it into the wind, it worked, she wrote back (I did cc my agent, so it was legit).

She was super nice but legally she couldnt read it, you know if she accidentally used one of the lines in her show… but she followed me on Twitter. 14-year-old me was very excited.

This is where the story sort of goes a little south, however, as after he DMd her to congratulate her on an award she thanked him, then promptly unfollowed him.

I emailed her, basically asking why she unfollowed me, and she replied saying her assistant thought she accidentally followed her. Which is kind of shady, he joked. She followed me back and then a week later unfollowed me.

And changed her email.

She probably thinks I was stalking her.

His Tumblr is one of the biggest in the world

Its all said in jest and the guy is hardly some star-stalker, for now he is rising through the media ranks with a TV show sold to NBC, a book in the works, the biggest LGBTQ Tumblr in the world – we repeat, the world – The Shitney Spears, which boasts more followers than Kylie Jenners, and aforementioned podcast, Davids Out for a Good Time, which hit the waves literally mere minutes ago (were not being dramatic this time), hosted alongside Naledi Dube.

We look forward to the moment David gets to meet Lena in the flesh at some swanky future awards show.

This guy talks with an enthusiasm that makes you feel tired just listening to him rattle off all the plates hes currently spinning.

Even if he has Lena changing up her online security – to be honest, she couldnt get away with such a generic email these days anyway, does she think Beyoncé gets around with a Hotmail account? – youve got to respect his moxie for making things happen.

Case in point, he emailed Spotify with the concept of his podcast that will, in his words, cover everything from Beychella to Benghazi.

I want it to cover everything on the good culture spectrum, and the dancing in Mykonos spectrum, he explained. Its like a thing where you can only like one [piece of culture] and not the other. People will go to classical balls wearing the finest black ties, but theyre the ones who are watching Keeping up with the Kardashians at home. You dont have to be stuck in a bubble.

More: Kylie Jenner

Following in the footsteps of arguably one of the biggest and buzziest comedians, like Amy Schumer, does he feel the heat to deliver?

I feel pressure but our shows are so different, he said. Im not a comedian at all, but people that listen to hers and mine will love both but theyll feel like theyre two different entities.
