Demi Moore has admitted she felt her childhood was over once she had to revive her mother after a suicide attempt.

The actor, 56, revealed the shocking moment she had to put her hands down her mothers throat to retrieve some pills she had swallowed after she had taken a drug overdose.

She explained: I remember using my fingers, the small fingers of a child, to dig the pills my mother had tried to swallow out of her mouth while my father held it open and told me what to do, she told Harpers Bazaar.

Something very deep inside me shifted then, and it never shifted back. My childhood was over.

As she recalls in her upcoming book, Inside Out, her family moved around a lot when she was a child, going from New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Washington before finally settling in California.

She also later found out that the man she had thought to be her father, Danny Guynes, was not actually her biological dad once he separated from her mother.

Danny also later died by suicide in 1980, and she had a tumultuous relationship with her mother but reconciled before her death in 1998 from cancer.

Her difficult childhood isnt the only revelation in her book, however. She also spoke out about miscarrying her child with Ashton Kutcher six months into her pregnancy.

She revealed that she had planned to call the child Chaplin Ray, but she blamed herself for losing the baby after she had begun drinking again after a period of sobriety.

Demi explained: In retrospect, what I realised is that when I opened the door (again), it was just giving my power away.

I guess I would think of it like this: it was really important to me to have natural childbirth because I didnt want to miss a moment.

And with that I experienced pain. So part of being sober is, I dont want to miss a moment of life, of that texture, even if that means being in some pain.
