Speculation is mounting that Coldplay could be about to release new music – under the new name of Los Unidades.

It comes after the band's record label, Parlophone, tweeted to announce a "new signing", together with a blurry image of four people.

At the bottom of the picture, there is text reading "Y02LPAC81ODL" – which eagle-eyed fans have been quick to point out is an anagram of "Coldplay 2018".

Fan account ColdplayXtra has also posted details of an apparent legal trademark agreement which lists the owners of Los Unidades as Chris Martin, Jon Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman.

The account says the trademark filing was made a year ago, after the band finished their A Head Full Of Dreams tour.

Adding fuel to the fire, Coldplay have liked the original tweet from Parlophone.

Several Los Unidades Instagram accounts have been created, with no details as to which one, if any, is official.

However, one posted an Instagram Stories video with a snippet of a song, featuring the initials C, J, W and G.

According to NME, a further announcement about Los Unidades is expected later on Tuesday.
