Sky News has been named News Channel Of The Year at the Royal Television Society awards.

The channel also won the Breaking News award for its coverage of the Manchester Arena terror attack.

Collecting the News Channel award, head of Sky News John Ryley said: "We're delighted to have won this award.

"It's the 12th time Sky News has won the News Channel Of The Year award and it's a great tribute to all my colleagues, some of them who are here tonight and some who aren't, for all their hard work."

The RTS praised Sky News' "powerful and moving coverage" of the Manchester Arena terror attack in winning the Breaking News category.

Other RTS award winners included the BBC News At Ten for Daily News Programme Of The Year, with the Outstanding Contribution Award going to Channel 4's head of news and current affairs Dorthy Byrne for her "ferocious" commitment to public service broadcasting.
