Rockstar News: Red Dead 2 Online Release Latest, GTA Online News, Agent and Bully Updates (Pic: ROCKSTAR)

Red Dead Redemption 2 will likely continue to have a vice-like grip on the UK gaming charts from now until the end of the year.

But despite being one of the best-reviewed games of the year, Rockstar's wild west sequel should be getting ready to release a major new addition to the game which will significantly improve the title since release in October.

That's because everyone is quietly waiting with bated breath for the release of Red Dead 2 Online, which should be, in theory, launching next week.

At least, that's what we're all expecting, partly because it's what Rockstar has promised previously. Telling fans before launch that a Red Dead 2 multiplayer beta would launch in November.

This was again reiterated by Take-Two Interactive's Strauss Zelnick who told stated during the company's Q3 earnings call that Red Dead 2 Online will launch in public beta "towards the end of the month."

And with only another 5 days left before the end of the month, it stands to reason the launch of Red Dead 2 Online is mere days away.

That or the announcement of a delay. Let's hope for the former. Stay tuned for more info later this week.

But from Rockstar's most recent success we not turn our attention to something of a dark spot on Rockstar's history, with Agent, which has now been seemingly binned by Take-Two Interactive.

For those who don't know, Agent was rumoured to be a stealth action game set during the Cold War. It was also a PS3 exclusive, originally announced at E3 2009 on te Sony stage.

At the time, Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games, said: “We have always enjoyed making action games, and with Agent we are making what we believe will be the ultimate action game.

“Agent is a game we have wanted to make for a long time. The team in Edinburgh is doing an amazing job combining intense action, atmosphere and story in a great period setting to create something that feels quite unique. We cannot wait for people to experience this game.”

But on November 19th 2018 earlier this week, Take-Two Interactive abandoned the trademark for the game. A trademark they've consistently renewed and refiled for time and time again. Here's a quick look at the tweaked trademark:

DEAD/APPLICATION/Refused/Dismissed or Invalidated
This trademark application was refused, dismissed, or invalidated by the Office and this application is no longer active.

Status: Abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.

So it would seem then, that Take-Two has eliminated Agent for good.

And then we have Bully 2, the elusive sequel to Rockstars tale of James “Jimmy” Hopkins, a student rising through the ranks of the school system.

Fans of the game and Rockstar, in general, have been hoping for a follow up to the 2006 game released on the PlayStation 2, but alas, nothing has been forthcoming.

Talk has been rife this past 12 months that something was in the works, with the most recent rumours suggesting casting calls had been placed for a “new unannounced video game title with a leading UK games developer, shooting at Pinewood Studios.”

Further to this, RockstarIntel has suggested that they've seen "Rockstar staff come into engagement with the listings, but wont be sharing who or how."

It's well noted as well that the former Rockstar Insider Yan2295 has been quite vocal that the next title from Rockstar Games after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 would be Bully 2.

Yet whilst there's little in the way of updates about Bully 2 since those casting calls in October, the news of Agent's trademark being dropped can only be good news for those hoping to see a sequel.

If nothing else at all, this news strengthens the possibility of seeing Bully 2 at some stage in the future, as it has one less long-standing Rockstar project to compete with.

Then again, who knows, maybe Rockstar will take a few months off before moving onto a next-gen GTA 6 project.

Lastly for this week, GTA Online continued to keep the Rockstar money making train moving with yet another update to celebrate the holiday period.

But whilst GTA Online will continue to be a huge money-spinning PS4, Xbox and PC game, this week, Rockstar has been giving all players a $750k bonus simply by logging in.

On top of this, Rockstar is also giving players $100k for each additional day players log into the game.

In addition, players can find their usual array of bonuses across some of the games latest modes with both Sumo (Remix) and Running Back (Remix) delivering double cash & RP, along with Biker Work & Challenges and Biker Sell Missions.

There's also a LOT of discounts for premium Los Santos retailers, who are slashing up to 40% off an assortment of high-performance vehicles, from the lightning-quick Dewbauchee Vagner to the pulsing Nagasaki Shotaro as well as a collection of super class and motorsport favourites.

However, players can only make the most of the above bonuses for another couple of days, as everything is only on offer until November 26th. So get a wriggle on if you want to make the most of these bonuses before they're gone.
