Britney Spears is stepping away from the spotlight and has announced that she has put her Las Vegas show on hold until further notice.
The star will be concentrating on her family, as Britney will be devoting her time to look after her father Jamie following a serious illness.
I dont even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. Ive been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart, she shared on social media after the news broke.
However, its important to always put your family first… and thats the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. Were all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him.
The mother-of-two added: I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.

Britneys father was seriously ill and rushed to hospital two months ago after his colon spotaneously ruptured forcing him into emergency surgery.
Jamie spent 28 days in hospital, a statement revealed. He has since been recovering at home and is expected to make full recovery.
I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me, Britney said.
Thank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.
Britney announced her Las Vegas residency in October 2018, less than a year after her last one ended.
Her Piece of Me residency opened on 27 December, 2013, and was initially set for just two years, but ticket demand and critical acclaim were so great, the singer extended her contract for an additional two years.
Her final show took place on 31 December 2017 after almost 250 performances. The show grossed over $135 million.
Domination was designed to give fans an immersive experience, where they can apparently get closer to the excitement than ever before.
Britney said in a statement at the time: I am so happy to be returning to my second home – Las Vegas!
Im working on a brand-new show and Im so excited for my fans to see it! Its going to be so much fun being back on stage and I cant wait to perform at Park Theater.
