Reese Witherspoon is used to fans being starstruck when they meet her.
So it was likely a novel feeling when the Big Little Lies actress found herself mesmerised when meeting Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge for the first time.
Happens to the best of us.
The 42-year-old recalls her royal encounter with Kate, 36, way back in 2011 when the duchess was a newlywed after marrying Prince William earlier that year. The pair became acquainted at the Launch of Tusk Trusts US Patrons Circle in Santa Barbara, California and the rest, as they say, is history.
In her new book Whiskey in a Teacup, Reese writes: The scream that issued from my lips upon receiving [the invitation] — you would have thought I was going to die. I wake up early, mind you, but on that day I was up at 4am doing my hair. Thats early, even for me.

Recalling the reaction of her husband, Jim Toth, said, Reese continued: “Ive never seen you this excited”, my husband said. He wasnt kidding.
Gushing over the duchess, Reese continued: She was just lovely and warm, elegant and composed. She also told a joke, and I immediately fell under her spell. Shes just as magnificent as she seems to be. Shes a very compassionate, socially conscious, deeply caring person.
Reese also sympathised with Kate, who will done day be Queen Consort, and her pressurised role as a senior royal. The Legally Blonde actress said: It takes a very special person to decide to commit to that kind of life, to choose to be under public scrutiny every moment.

Now that shes in that position, her entire life is in service, forever. I am so in awe of that kind of dedication.
These two should seriously grab a cocktail together. Itd also be great if Reese could share that oh-so funny joke.
