As the PS4 enters its twilight years, Sony is no doubt getting primed to reveal the next generation of PlayStation console.
There's an awful lot of questions that are still unanswered.
How much will the PS5 Cost? When will Sony release the PS5? What games will the PS5 be capable of playing? What specs will PS5 ship with?
There's so much we don't know at this early stage, however, it seems fairly certain at this point that there's one thing you can bank on.
VR.
Sony's next-generation console is almost certainly going to go all in on their next virtual reality headset, which, is supposed to already be in the making right now behind the scenes.
However, if you needed anymore proody that Sony is doing well on the Virtual Reality front – we now have proof it is dominating.
Sony revealed in a blog post earlier this week that it has sold a total of 4.2 million PlayStation VR sets worldwide. Not bad for what many would still consider a fledgeling product for the mass market.
“Were also very excited to reveal that we have officially sold-through more than 4.2 million PS VR systems worldwide as of March 3, 2019”

In a new blog post, PlayStation social-media chief Sid Shuman wrote:
“Were also very excited to reveal that we have officially sold-through more than 4.2 million PS VR systems worldwide as of March 3, 2019.
“Wed like to thank our fans for the amazing support for helping us achieve the milestone.”
That is an impressive feat in less than two and a half years since its launch on the console.
According to VentureBeat the recent numbers mean Sony is leagues ahead of the competition.
Industry firm IDC said PS VR shipped 463,000 headsets in Q4 2018, which beat Oculus Rift (300,000) and HTC Vive (230,000).
No doubt Sony was helped along by the fact their VR headset goes hand-in-hand with the most popular games console on the market.
Comparatively, Oculus and HTC require pricey computer setups.

So its no surprise VR is a massive revenue source for Sony, and something they will want to focus on.
Sony are also focusing heavily on VR games for PlayStation 4.
The Japanese gaming giant announced a number of exciting VR titles coming in the spring, including Table of Tales (April 16), Jupiter & Mars (April 22), Everybodys Golf VR (May 21), Blood & Truth (May 28), Vacation Simulator (June 18) and Five Nights at Freddys VR: Help Wanted (Spring, 2019).
Sonys announcement has positioned Sony in a comfortable position when it comes to the next generation of console.
There is certainly a market for VR headsets, and with the upcoming release of the PlayStation 5, Sony will be looking to ramp up its hardware.
Its previously been speculated PSVR 2 could be the next version, which would be coming to PS5 with some recent rumours suggesting it might go wireless.
But regardless of how much Sony might put into their next VR headset, it already seems as though that Microsoft might skip it alRead More – Source
