Hollywood superstar Will Smith has hinted he will be performing the official World Cup 2018 song.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air rapper, singer and actor posted a picture on Instagram of himself with fellow American singer and songwriter Nicky Jam, with the caption: "One Life to Live. Live it Up. #2018FIFAWorldCup."

He also tagged American DJ Diplo and Kosovar singer and songwriter Era Istrefi in the post.

The four are believed to have filmed the video for the World Cup track over the weekend.

Smith and Jam have been seen in Cartegena, Colombia, with producer DJ Nelson telling music website Vibe they would be performing the song for this summer's tournament in Russia.

"Nicky Jam and Will Smith are producing the new copa de futbol, they're doing it together," he said.

"They're making this big song and it's just so crazy."

Thousands of fans had already liked Smith's revealing Instagram post after just minutes of putting it up.

In March, the Men in Black actor showed his appreciation for Jam by releasing a video of him dancing to single X on his Instagram, where he has 15.8m followers.

A day before Smith made the announcement about the World Cup, Jam had posted a picture of the pair on Twitter, saying: "The best of everything is the process. Will Smith."

Smith has posted several times over the past week in Cartegena, showing off some dance moves with the locals.

Jam, 37, real name Nick Rivera Caminera, recorded his first album aged 14 and is famous in the reggaeton genre, which originated in his father's native Puerto Rico and is influenced by hip hop and Latin American and Caribbean music. He mostly sings in Spanish.
