PS4 PSN Name Change: PlayStation Online ID change coming TODAY – How to change your PSN ID (Pic: SONY)

It's been one of the most highly-requested PSN features for years and now Sony is finally about to make it happen: from today, you'll be able to change your PSN ID.

From today, the online ID change feature on PSN is officially launching to all PlayStation 4 owners – and you can even change your ID in an online browser, too.

Hold your horses before you go racing to change your embarrassing X0SNIPER_W0LF0X tag that you made when you were 13, though – there are still a few caveats to how the whole thing works.

Sony notes (with bold for emphasis):

"All PS4 games originally published on or after April 1, 2018 have been developed to support the online ID change feature. However, since they have not all been specifically tested with the feature, we cannot guarantee that they will support it. For more details and information, we encourage you to refer to the list of tested games before making a change to your online ID. Do keep in mind that the large majority of most actively played PS4 games support the feature."

That list can be found here. If you have any doubts whether your game saves, online profile and whatever else will work with the game you play all the time, be sure to consult that list.

Any further questions can be asked on the official PlayStation support page you can find at the link.

Right, now all the bad stuff is out of the way – let's figure out how to actually do this.
