Pokemon GO Pikachu SHINY SANTA: How to catch Shiny Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu for Winter 2018 (Pic: DS)

Pokemon Go's 2018 Winter event is here – bringing increased spawn rates for Pokemon like Snover, Snorunt, Sneasel, Spheal and more.

We've also seen Heatran added as a tier 5 raid thanks to the new event, as well as a Shiny Delibird.

But you know what else we're getting? Shiny Santa Hat Pikachu!

Whilst no doubt great news for anyone still trying to earn that Gold Pikachu badge, it's also excellent news for anyone searching for more elusive Shiny Pokemon to capture, too.

The appearance of the special edition Santa Hat Pikachu isn't just limited to Pikachu.

The entire family is on the act, including Pichu and the evolved form, Raichu.

However, It doesn't extend to the Alolan Raichu.

There are a whole variety of ways for you to encounter these special shiny Pokemon during the Gen 4 Winter Event.

It's worth remembering that it's not possible to encounter a Shiny Raichu in the wild, so if that's the shiny you want, you'll need to make sure to capture either a Pichu or Pikachu.

Also, this goes without saying but when you do find that Shiny Santa Pichu or Pikachu, you'll need a lot of candy to evolve yourself that Shiny Raichu.

Keep reading as we've broken down all of the potential ways you might be able to encounter these limited edition witch hat shiny Pokemon.

Egg Hatches:

Witch Pichu – Is currently hatching from 2km eggs. So there's a chance of a shiny Santa hat Pichu.

Santa Pikachu & Santa Raichu – Both Pokemon are not currently hatching from eggs.

Raid Battles:

At the time of writing there are no Pikachu family Pokemon available in raids. So that rules that option out.

In the Wild:

The baby Pokemon Pichu is not currently spawning in the wild. And neither is Raichu. However, the Santa Hat Pikachu is spawning everywhere!

We'd suggest that to boost your chances even more you should head over to the Silph Road Global Nest Atlas to find your nearest Pikachu nest, because obviously, the more you encounter, the higher your odds.
