The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild – what will come next?

It looks like a new Zelda is definitely underway, as Nintendo put up job ads for developers to work on the series.

The Quiet ManGame review: The Quiet Man is fascinatingly awful

The question with Nintendo sequels is rarely whether theyre going to be made, but rather when. Theres obviously going to be a new Legend Of Zelda game at some point, but traditionally theres not more than one or two mainline entries per console.

But there are three good reason to think that there might be another one on the way for the Switch: 1) Breath Of The Wild was the most successful entry for years, 2) it was originally designed for the Wii U rather than the Switch, and 3) Nintendo is currently hiring for a new game.

The job ads are on Nintendos Japanese website but a poster on forum ResetEra has translated the descriptions, with one being for a 3D CG designer to work on terrain and topography for open worlds and dungeons.

Another job is for a level designer that can plan game events, open world areas, dungeons, and enemies.

We wouldnt get too excited about the use of the word dungeon, as it is only a rough translation but it sounds like Nintendo are ramping up to start serious development, rather than just pre-production.

Theres nothing in the job ads that confirms a new game, but it certainly seems too late for it to be DLC. It could be a spin-off, and not a mainline entry, but the descriptions definitely sound like a traditional Zelda title.

When Nintendo would announce the game is as much a mystery as when itll be out, but its good to know that work has begun…
