Theo Campbell will be running a tough 10K race to raise funds for a blindness charity just over a week after a freak accident caused him to lose vision in one eye.

The Love Island star, who was hospitalised in Ibiza after a popped champagne cork split his right eye in half, appeared in an Instagram video sporting what he called a pretty cool new eye patch.

Campbell will be participating in Saturdays obstacle course to raise funds for the Himalayan Cataract Project, which provides eye care and surgery to people in developing countries.

The 28-year-old picked the charity because sight is the most important sense a person has, so if you can help someone fix their sight, its going a long way.

He joked: I would do it for people who got popped in the eye with a cork, but that charity doesnt exist.

Campbell is smiling and upbeat throughout the video, though he confesses not being able to see in one eye is a bit of a pain in the ass.

Fans learned about the accident after Campbell posted a picture of himself lying in a hospital bed with girlfriend Kaz Crossley, who will also be participating in the event.

So yeah, basically two eye surgeries later…Ive lost all vision in my right eye…who would have thought a champagne cork would have been the end of me… he wrote in the caption.

Many of Campbells Love Island co-stars replied to the video with words of encouragement.

Mate, youre basically Nick Fury now, said Chris Taylor.

Though Campbell is in great shape, he still thinks the race is not going to be easy. Its a 10K, Im a sprinter, its going to be a challenge.

And that eye patch?
