Linda Nolan admits she considered suicide when husband died

Linda Nolan has admitted that she considered suicide after the passing of her husband.

The 59-year-old singer, who is planning her own funeral while battling incurable breast cancer, has admitted that when her husband Brian Hudson died from cancer, the loss left her feeling suicidal.

The singing sister has spoken candidly about living with the disease in her autobiography From The Heart, and also revealed the anguish she felt at being told by doctors that her cancer is now incurable.

She explained: ‘I appreciate life so much more. It’s ironic that there was a time after Brian had passed away and after Bernie had been ill that I went into a downward spiral of depression.

‘At times, I thought about taking my own life. Now, with this diagnosis, I think life is so precious.

‘There’s so much to live for. I look at my great-nieces and nephews, who are all toddlers, and think, “Oh, I would have missed all of this”.

She also explained that ‘living with an incurable disease has changed the way’ she lives her life.

Her late mother died after being diagnosed with dementia, her sister Bernie passed away after having cancer, and Linda herself is now fighting the disease for the second time.

From My Heart by Linda Nolan is published by Sidgwick & Jackson.
