Katie Price has admitted calling her ex's girlfriend a "f****** c***" in front of young children in a playground.

The former glamour model previously said she was "definitely not guilty" of using threatening and abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress towards Michelle Penticost, who is dating her estranged husband Kieran Hayler.

But when the 41-year-old arrived at Horsham Magistrates' Court she changed her plea to guilty.

Paul Edwards, prosecuting, told the court the row was witnessed by a teacher in addition to the children in Shipley, West Sussex, last September.

It involved hurling a "tirade of abuse", which included shouting "f****** c***" multiple times at both Ms Penticost and her friend Andrea Quigley, he added.

Ms Penticost and Ms Quigley were talking in the playground when Ms Price, who was on the school run, approached them, Mr Edwards said.

Price confronted Ms Penticost about pictures that appeared in the media of her with one of Price's children.

When the former model was told she was interrupting a conversation, she replied "I can interrupt who the hell I like".

The court heard that after Ms Penticost walked away, Price turned on Ms Quigley, saying: "I wasn't talking to you, you stupid c***."

When Price was asked to stop being rude, she replied: "I can be as f****** rude as I want to. Who are you, you stupid c***?"

Price told the magistrates: "All what they have said is completely untrue. I did say it once but not many times."

Ms Penticost, who was not at the hearing, said in a victim impact statement that she tried to avoid Price at school because she felt intimidated.

"I'm anxious I may still see her and I just want to get outside the school as soon as possible," she said.

She also claimed Price was "poisoning" the children's view of her, "saying I'm fat, I have a big arse, that I hate mummy (Price)".

"I have told them I like mummy."

Paul Macauley, defending, said Price's outburst was prompted by her discovery, days earlier, that Ms Penticost was in a relationship with Mr Hayler.

Chairman of the bench Michael Harris ordered Price to pay £606, including a £415 fine and court costs.

Imposing a five-year restraining order, forbidding Price from contacting Ms Penticost directly or indirectly, was "appropriate for this unpleasant event", he added.
