Rio Ferdinands girlfriend, Kate Wright, finds it easy to put herself in his childrens shoes.
The former TOWIE star has opened up about how difficult she found bonding with her own stepmothers during her childhood – and vows to give Rios kids a better experience.
Kate, 27, is stepmother to Rios three children, Lorenz, 11, Tate, nine and Tia, seven, from his marriage to the late Rebecca Ellison.
In a candid interview with Mail on Sundays You magazine, Kate revealed how she had several stepmothers, but didnt have close relationships with them.
Explaining how she wants better for Rios children, Kate said: Ive had a few stepmums but they werent in my life majorly. My experience has helped define how I want to treat Rios kids and how I want them to see me.
Kate also revealed how she wasnt invited to her fathers wedding at the age of nine, a situation that left her very upset at the time.

Life is better for the former TV star now, as she and Rio could be expanding their family – if his children have their way.
According to Kate: The kids would like a little brother or sister; they say “I dreamt that you were pregnant. But right now were just happy with our little unit”.
Kate admitted that she didnt think about becoming a stepmother when she first started dating Rio in 2017.
The reality star revealed: Rio and I just clicked. I knew about the children and what had happened but at first I didnt give it much thought. When you meet someone youre just enjoying the moment, not thinking about how serious things might become.
However, she was more than happy to swap her life in the spotlight as a star on The Only Way Is Essex for the family life.
Kate said: I fell in love with Rio, then I met the kids and fell in love with them. I realised, Wow, my life is going to change. I couldnt be part of his life and not part of theirs. I knew it would be a challenge, but if you love someone you go with it and deal with the difficult stuff.

If Kate and Rio do decide to have a baby, it would be their first child together – his first three children are from his marriage to his late wife, Rebecca Ellison, who died in May 2015 at the age of 34 after a battle with breast cancer.
Commending the way the retired footballer dealt with Rebeccas untimely passing, Kate told the publication: The way Rios coped and brought up his children is amazing. Without Rebecca being there, he had to take on a softer role. His children need to see love, and if youre a hard man you cant show that.
