Fortnite star Ninja made £10 MILLION in 2018: Here's how Ninja got rich playing Fortnite (Pic: GETTY)

You might have heard of Tyler Blevins, but you'll probably know him better as Ninja. The Fortnite playing gamer has had a great year, becoming Twitchs most streamed user on the site.

All in all the 27-year-old professional stream has grown his YouTube channel from 400,000 at the start of the year, to 20 million by the end. And on Twitch he has 13 million followers, which is 7 million more than the second biggest channel, Shroud.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg for Ninja, who recently told CNN recently that he earned (about) $10 million in the past year from his time playing Fortnite

Taking to Twitter, he said: “Lets be real for a minute… 2018 was hands down the greatest year of my life.

“I have been working toward this goal my entire life, gaming since I was a kid. Take control of your destiny this year and make shit happen. Love you all.”

The former Halo pro has worked hard for his success though and it's believed that Ninja streamed over 3,800 hours of Fortnite during 2018 alone.

And just before the year ended he managed to get in his 5000th Fortnite Battle Royale win.

At his peak, Ninja reportedly had over 250,000 paying Twitch subscribers.

Although the number is now believed to be lower, at $5 (£4) a month per subscription, he can earn anything between $500,000 (£400,000) and $1million (£800,000) per month.

He has also crept into the mainstream showbiz world, teaming up famously with rapper Drake to play the Battle Royale game.

More recently Ninja was also invited to New Years Eve celebrations in New Yorks Times Square.

Although his efforts to get a million New Yorkers to floss simultaneously didn't quite work out as planned.

We suspect he'll stick to playing Fortnite in the future, especially as it shows no signs of it's popularity slowing down.

According to Epic Games, the Battle Royale game now boasts more than 200 million gamers worldwide.

The remainder of his income comes from sponsorship deals, he told CNN.

These include big brands such as Samsung and Red Bull.

Ninja also has his own clothing line, and dropped an electronic music album in December 2018 called Ninjaweks.

It should be noted that as well as earning a fortune playing Fortnite, Ninja has also done his fair share to donate money towards charity.

On Black Friday, Ninja raised $52,000 together with the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.

Over the summer, he donated $500,000 in prize money to the Alzheimers Association.

And he also took part in the famous annual GuardianCon charity stream that managed to raise a whopping $2.7 million.

However, it's been noted that one of the biggest single donations in the GuardianCon entire event, was $100,000 from an anonymous user during Ninja's Fortnite stream.

Many fans believing this might have come from his 'mate' Drake Epic Games themselves.
