Demi Lovatos sister has paid an utterly heartbreaking tribute to her older sibling on her 26th birthday after the singer came close to death last month.

Madison De La Garza has thanked God she gets to celebrate Demis big day, rather than mourn for her after her recent alleged drug overdose.

Madison also thanked the medical staff who saved Demis life, writing: without all of those people I wouldnt have my big sister anymore.

Sharing an image of her as a baby being cuddled by her older sibling, the 16-year-old wrote: Today could have been one of the worst days of my life, but instead i get to spend it thanking God, the incredible doctors, demis team, and everyone across the world who offered their support.

Without all of these people i wouldnt have my big sister anymore. ive been thinking about how i wish that everyone could see the silly little things that she does, like how her nostrils move when she says certain words and when she brushes my hair behind my ear when im trying to sleep, because those are the things im thankful for today.

In sharing a lengthy message, she wrote: An untrue story on the internet yanked my life, my reputation, my name and everything I have worked so hard to stand for, out from beneath me.

I wound up not leaving my house nor my bed for 3 weeks. Ridden with severe depression, fear, anxiety, sadness, anger, disgust, numbness and many more adjectives…

I am writing this not for puty or sympathy, I am writin gthis to share MYstory of how this affects and weighs on me.

She closed by saying: If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all.

The singer was found unconscious at her home on 24 July and rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital suffering a suspected overdose. The singer later remained in hospital for over a week as she suffered extreme nausea due to complications.

She has since cancelled all gigs for the foreseeable future in order to put herself through rehab, and is said to be very serious about getting her sobriety back on track.
