Most hitchhikers will have more than a few interesting tales to share about their adventures.
But Scott Hildebrand can probably top them all.
After arriving in Brisbane from Mexico, the musician managed to bum a ride with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth and his friend Luke Zocchi – and then found himself travelling by helicopter.
The pair told him their chosen mode of transport after first picking him up in their car.
With a bird's-eye view of the Gold Coast, he made the 100-mile trip to Byron Bay in style.
Thor star Hemsworth posted a video of the journey on Instagram, saying: "Picked up a hitchhiker, wasn't a serial killer which we were stoked about and just happened to be a kick ass musician Scott Hildebrand."
The clip has been viewed more than 1.5 million times, with thousands of people commenting on the post.
In an interview with E! News, Hildebrand said the experience was "so cool and unexpected".
"They're so nice and I couldn't believe it was happening," he said.
