Tom Hiddleston proved that he was the ultimate supportive crowd member as he cheered Johanna Konta on at the US Open.

The British tennis player made a great comeback against Karolina Pliskova, progressing to the quarter finals for the first time, and we like to think that having an actual superhero on her side might have had something to do with it.

The 38-year-old actor, who is in the US ahead of the Broadway transfer of hit West End play Betrayal, took time out from rehearsals to head to Flushing Meadows in Queens to support the Brit native.

Sat alongside his co-star, Fresh Meat actress Zawe Ashton, the Thor actor showed that he was team Konta through and through from the stands.

Wearing a blue striped shirt, navy jacket and sunglasses, Tom was seen enthusiastically cheering, clapping and punching the air in support for the Brit, putting on the kind of animated display you want to see from one of the worlds best actors.

This is the second time that Tom has cheered on Johanna this tournament, sitting courtside with the Betrayal cast again for her first round match just last week.

Speaking about Toms support, the world number 16 said: We only met a few days ago and he turns out to be a big tennis fan.
