Amazon will not throw Jeffrey Tambors name in the running for an Emmy this year, which comes as a surprise to probably about zero people.
“Sources have confirmed to Deadline that Tambor, who has won multiple Emmys for his role as Maura Pfefferman on the Jill Soloway comedy-drama, will not be in the running for this years Emmys as the streaming giant has pulled his name out of consideration,” Deadline reported. “The news was first reported by fellow PMC site Gold Derby.”
Jeffrey Tambor, who plays the transgender protagonist Maura Pfefferman in the Amazon series “Transparent” was fired in February after he was accused of sexual harassment by two transgender actresses. They claim Tambor made unwanted sexual advances on them during filming and offered pay raises in exchange for certain sex acts. Tambor issued an apology for his actions but maintained he had never been a predator, to his knowledge.
“I know I havent always been the easiest person to work with,” he said. “I can be volatile and ill-tempered, and too often I express my opinions harshly and without tact. But I have never been a predator – ever.”
Later, he blamed his ousting on “the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set.”
