Xbox Update: Good news, Halo Infinite Xbox One isn't second-class compared to Scarlett (Pic: DS)

We're on the brink of next-gen, edging closer to the age of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett.

We don't really know an awful lot about what to expect with next-gen just yet. The only firm announcement we have from Microsoft about its upcoming next-gen release lineup is Halo Infinite – the game that will no doubt be the first big selling point for the new generation of hardware.

The weird thing is, Halo Infinite is releasing in Holiday 2020 as a launch title for Project Scarlett, but it'll also launch on the standard Xbox One – and PC.

Halo boss Frank O'Connor revealed more about the multiple-platform release with YouTuber Blackmist523.

O'Connor noted that the Halo development team worked alongside the hardware developers at Microsoft that have been beavering away at Scarlett, enabling the team at 343 Industries' to better take advantage of the Xbox Scarlett hardware and generate something "amazing" on the next-gen system.

But that doesn't mean the Xbox One is going to be left behind.

"The Xbox One is not going to be a second-class citizen. We're building it so it plays and looks fantastic on Xbox One," O'Connor noted.
