Xbox One X games UPDATE: Microsoft reveal HUGE new feature ahead of Games with Gold March

Xbox One X owners have been handed some rather excellent news this week as Microsoft bosses confirmed the addition of an exciting new feature.

According to Kevin Gammill, program manager for Microsoft’s Xbox Platform Partner Group, the Xbox One X will support 1440p resolution at some point in the near future.

Writing on Twitter, Gammill told members of the Xbox Insider Program that they will be “pleasantly surprised very soon.” with the new 1440p support.

The official tweet read: "Many questions recently around the timing of our 1440p support. Those of you in our early preview ring should be pleasantly surprised very soon if you have an Xbox One S or Xbox One X"

If you're more of a casual gamer or Xbox user and you're not sure what an Xbox Insider is, let us explain.

Effectively, Xbox Insiders are like beta testers, who get access to the very latest hardware and software on the console. When Microsoft's testing is complete, they usually roll the new updates out to the public.

NEW Xbox One Games rumoured to be in development

A selection of games rumoured to be in development, as leaked by Resetera user Klobrille.

Currently, the Xbox One X can make us of supersampling on a 1080p television or monitor, but downsampling means that anyone using a 1440p display right now, are not seeing the benefits.

This upcoming update should change all of that providing an even clearer resolution for the most powerful console on the planet.

In addition, if Gammill's tweet is to be believed this update should also bring 1440p support to the Xbox One S, even if it's only the Xbox One X that actually supports gaming in 1440p.

According to a tweet from Xbox Insider Program head Brad Rossetti, this new update is expected to drop next week.

In the meantime, all Xbox One owners have a bevvy of excellent deals thanks to the launch of the new Deals with Gold offers earlier today.
