The YouTube backlash didnt pass TikTok by (Picture: YouTube/ tiktok_us)

TikTok has thrown the ultimate shade at YouTube after describing its own 2018 round-up video as the greatest Rewind of all time.

Bit awkward.

The app – formerly known as musical.ly – revealed its first ever yearly round-up video, featuring the most popular clips from 2018.

The concept and name are just a little familiar as YouTube has been creating Rewind videos since 2010.

However, TikTok didnt let the backlash from YouTubes latest Rewind pass it by, as it tweeted: THE GREATEST REWIND. OF ALL TIME! #TikTokRewind, attaching a teaser video.

Although the app has come under a huge amount of ridicule, it still stands as one of YouTubes biggest competitors, particularly since the closure of Vine.

In 2018, TikTok reached some incredible milestones, including becoming one of Google Plays best apps of the year, and the number one downloaded app in the U.S. on both the Apple and Android App Stores in October, explained Stefan Heinrich, Head of Global Marketing at TikTok.

Baby Ariel, Zach King and Marshmello topped the list of the biggest celebs on the platform, while Gil Croes, Holly H, and Awez Darbar were the most popular creators.

It comes after Everyone Controls Rewind, the 2018 edition of YouTubes edition, gained the most dislikes on a video of all time after just a week of being released.

It didnt exactly give the people what they want.

Currently standing at more than 13 million dislikes, it quickly overtook the music video for Justin Biebers Baby, which was uploaded almost nine years ago.

It faced huge backlash from the community, as fans were furious that mainstream celebs like Will Smith were included at the expense of influential YouTube creators like PewDiePie and Logan Paul.

However, despite the smug tweet, opinions on TikTok Rewind have also been pretty mixed.

Only thing tiktok needs to rewind is its existence, one unimpressed viewer said.

TikTok trying to burn YouTube, but failing so hard at it, another pointed out.

Id seriously prefer kidz bop over this app (sic), a disgruntled follower claimed.

Bit harsh.
