Idris Elba seems to have got into the Valentine’s Day spirit early and the sweet moment he proposed, captured by an audience member, will have you smiling from ear to ear.
The actor popped the question to his girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre during a screening of his new film.
The Rio Cinema in Dalston was hosting a screening of Idris’s directorial debut Yardie when the 42-year-old got on stage to propose to his beauty queen girlfriend, getting down on one knee.
The cinema’s official Twitter account shared a picture of Idris and wrote: ‘Another @riocinema first! Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardie.’
After one person responded: ‘Whaaaa @idriselba, but did she say yes?!!!’, the cinema replied: ‘She said yes and there was much clapping and cheering.’
Actor Tolulope Ogunmefun, fondly known as Don’t Jealous Me, congratulated Idris confirming that he witnessed the proposal.
Writing on his Instagram he said: ‘So just left the Yardie screening .. you lot yea.. when I say the film this amazing .. not just saying that cah I’m in it .. shout out 2 the big bro @idriselba bad boy producer! And he also proposed 2 his girlfriend .. was glad 2 witness it.’
