Melissa Hutchison voices Clementine in Telltales The Walking Dead (Picture: Telltale Games)

Telltales The Walking Dead actress Melissa Hutchison, who voices main character Clementine, has described the games sudden cancellation as two weeks of hell.

The studio, known for creating licensed narrative adventure games, announced they were closing back in September this year following reports of staff layoffs.

The initial announcement left the future of The Walking Dead: The Final Season in doubt, which was two episodes away from completing Clementines story.

Speaking at Walker Stalker Con in New Jersey (via ComicBook), Hutchison described how she was actually in the recording booth when she heard the news of Telltales demise.

It was actually something out of a movie, it was very dramatic, Hutchison said. I was actually in a recording session for The Final Season when the axe dropped, and the session had to stop.

She added: I called a very dear friend of mine who worked at Telltale and I was like, “Yo, whats going on, man?” And he was just kind of deliriously like, “They shut the doors, its all done, were done, its gone.”

And then I basically cried myself into physical pain [laughs]. It was about two weeks of hell. I say that, thats pretty dramatic… but wed been working with Telltale a very long time.

Beyond my selfish reasons of course of, “Well, what about Clementine? What about the fans?” This company that weve worked for for so many years, this is an amazing company, and to see it just gone in a heartbeat… and all those people losing their jobs, it was devastating.

The games final season was recently picked up by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkmans Skybound Games, who will ensure Clementines story will be completed.

Making the announcement at New York Comic Con, Kirkman said: Everybody involved is trying to make sure Clementines story is told.

Its a very unfortunate situation, but hopefully we will come out of it in some kind of positive way, Kirkman said. I am not concerned at the moment with having to tell the story in comic book form because Im hoping that the games will eventually be completed.
