A terminally ill boy has left many broken hearted with his moving reaction to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect while in hospital.
Ollie Carroll, 6, is suffering from Batten Disease, a rare condition which limits children of their mobility, sight and speech.
As a huge fan of Ed Sheeran, Ollie used to regularly sing his songs until the disease left him unable to do so, but he continues to listen to his tracks while at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
His aunt Emily has since posted a clip on Facebook of Ollie’s reaction to Ed’s Christmas number one single Perfect, while he receives enzymes via an infusion, saying how it ‘breaks’ the family’s hearts.
Writing on the Ollie’s Army Battling Against Battens page, she wrote: ‘Ollie’s mummy sent me this video of Ollie at Great Ormond Street today having his infusion.
‘Please watch carefully what Ollie experiences in this video.
‘Music impacts Ollie so much (he especially loves Ed). The fact Ollie responds to music lets us know that Ollie is aware of what is going on around him & a part of us believes he can still understand the words in the lyrics.
‘I hope this video touches your heart. It breaks ours. We are sure Ollie knows he has his Army & that lots of people care about him. Ollies Army helps him experience new things & we know that Ollie responds to these. Please continue to support Ollie’s Army for this brave little boy & his sister xx.’
Ollie’s four-year-old sister, Amelia, is also battling Batten Disease.

Ed Sheeran previously met Ollie at the Manchester Evening News Arena back in April, with his mum Lucy telling the MEN: ‘Ed spent time with Ollie and gave him the biggest of cuddles, he had high fives with Amelia who was completely in love and couldn’t stop staring at him.
‘Ed is one of the loveliest guys we have ever met, he asked us to explain Batten Disease and Ollie’s Army. He was truly saddened by our journey.
