Square Enix News: Final Fantasy 7 Remake PS4 good news, Avengers at SDCC and a FF X-3 game (Pic: Daily Star)

Lots of Square Enix stuff happened this week, so let's not waste any time, lest Tifa say dilly-dally shilly-shally. Which is a super deep cut to the Advent Children movie which I still like.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is due to come out on March 3rd, 2020. It's an exciting time for PS4 owners, as the game is a timed exclusive and it looks incredible.

It retells the story of Cloud and co as they fight the good fight to try and save the planet as money-obsessed corporations drain the life from it. Basically, they're fighting against climate change that's being caused by big companies.

Anyway, earlier on this week, the game was also announced to be coming to Xbox One on March 3rd. This was odd because nobody had heard anything about it prior to this strange video that popped up on the Xbox One social channels in Germany. Exciting stuff though right?

Wrong. It turns out that this wasn't a leak, but a mistake.

Maxi Graff, a Microsoft Marketing Communications & Social Lead, later corrected things in a tweet that explained the error, so everyone needs to take a few deep breaths and get back on with their lives. It was fun while it lasted.

Squre-Enix also followed this up in a statement given to IGN which suggests the whole incident wasn't a careless mistake or some news pushed early, but rather, a complete fabrication.

"As previously announced, Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020," the Square Enix representative said. "We have no plans for other platforms."

So that's that then, sorry Xbox readers.

Diablo 4 News: Final Fantasy XIV Director calls out Blizzard for job on next Diablo game

“There is no doubt that it would become a massive project”

Yoshinori Kitase

Next up, we have an interesting interview with Yoshinori Kitase over on Game Informer involving the Final Fantasy X series.

Before we go any further, we should also add that Final Fantasy X was easily one of the best PS2 games ever thanks to being the first time the FF series was on that generation of consoles, and as a result could have things like mouths that moved, and voice acting. What a concept.

Well, the team over at GI did a great job interviewing the lead producer on the Final Fantasy X games, but one question stands out from the rest of the pack.

That question, of course, was this: "Without committing to anything officially, how much excitement or discussion is present internally at Square Enix regarding a possible Final Fantasy X-3?"

Final Fantasy X is still an oddball thanks to getting an actual sequel, so this is a question that many have probably thought about, especially after the FF XIII trilogy.

The answer Yoshinori Kitase gave was this:

"The idea comes up from time to time when a few close people that had worked on the original Final Fantasy X talk with each other. However, it is merely standard chitchat and there have been no movements to realize it because, once the project begins, there is no doubt that it would become a massive project with hundreds of staff working on it (and I have an ongoing project that I need to finish before then!)."

I mean, it wasn't a no. But we've also heard similar murmurings from the team about X-3 in the past, so if you're holding your breath, maybe, don't.
