Majors updates and bans for Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2 and Assassins Creed: Odyssey (Pic: Ubisoft)

Ubisoft has set about swinging its ban hammer after Rainbow Six Siege players discovered an extremely disruptive in-game exploit.

By using a chat window glitch, cheaters were causing their opponents game to crash or severely slow down. Ubisoft will now be punishing those players with bans.

These will vary in length “depending on the frequency and severity of the exploit's usage”.

Meanwhile, in other Siege news, Clashs deployable shield has been restored after it was nixxed by Ubisoft Montreal.

This was due to a reproducible exploit which has now been mended though players are starting report similar Clash bugs the developers are investigating.

Stamping out naughty behaviour in its games seems to be this weeks running theme for Ubisoft. After launching the Story Creator Mode for Assassins Creed: Odyssey, players have been using this genius new game feature to create quests in which users can effectively farm experience points.

As a singleplayer title, this doesnt really have a hugely negative impact though its easy to understand why Ubisoft has started to remove these quests as they defeat the purpose of exploring Ancient Greece and experiencing Odyssey as it was intended.

This week also saw the arrival of update 1.40, prepping the game for next weeks final DLC chapter, Judgment of Atlantis. There are plenty of fixes and tweaks as well – here are the full patch notes.
