Spice Girls support Gender Justice for Comic Relief Following the huge announcement this week that Spice Girls are reuniting for a 2019 UK stadium tour, and in the spirit of everything the band represent, Emma, Melanie C, Mel B and Geri announce the launch of their exclusive T-Shirt campaign to raise funds and awareness for Power Up, a programme within Comic Relief???s Gender Justice pillar. The T-shirt will be sold worldwide from the 10th November. Announcing the news of the campaign on The Jonathan Ross Show last night, the money raised by the T-Shirts will help the Gender Justice programme to champion equality for women and girls. Research confirms that, although there has been progress, women and girls are still significantly more at risk of violence, earn less, have fewer options about the jobs they do, and are less likely to be making the big decisions about how our country works. Spice Girls say, ???Equality and the movement of people power has always been at the heart of the band. It is about equality for all, ???every boy and every girl???. We recently found out that charities focused on issues faced by women don???t get the funding that they desperately need, so launching a campaign to raise funds for these issues is incredibly important to us and an area we want to support.??? Liz Warner, Chief Executive of Comic Relief, said: ???Girl Power is a shared passion. Right now, this movement for equality is uniting the world in the most spectacular way and this very generous gift is going to help us support even more organisations fighting for the rights of women and girls here in the UK. We are proud to be the ones to take this forward with the Spice Girls and look forward to seeing the difference we can make together.??? The T-Shirts are available to purchase globally from www.represent.com/spicegirls ENDS

The Spice Girls have announced that theyre launching a t-shirt campaign to support Comic Reliefs Gender Justice, and were living for it.

Its girl power to the max.

The girls – Emma Bunton, Mel B, Mel C and Geri Horner – have spoken out about the campaign, titled #IWannabeASpiceGirl.

Equality and the movement of people power has always been at the heart of the band, they said. It is about equality for all, “every boy and every girl”.

They added: We recently found out that charities focused on issues faced by women dont get the funding that they desperately need, so launching a campaign to raise funds for these issues is incredibly important to us and an area we want to support.

Why did they ever go away?

Speaking about the girls support, Liz Warner, Chief Executive of Comic Relief, said: Girl Power is a shared passion. Right now, this movement for equality is uniting the world in the most spectacular way and this very generous gift is going to help us support even more organisations fighting for the rights of women and girls here in the UK.

The campaign aims to champion equality for girls and women.

Tweeting about the launch, the girls wrote: This is all about supporting women and helping them be heard. Were honoured to launch our #IwannabeaSpiceGirl campaign & support @ComicRelief.

Were so ready to spice up our wardrobes.

It comes ahead of their 2019 reunion tour, which has already sold out.

However, things didnt entirely go to plan with ticket sales.

Tickets for the tour went on sale on 10 November, with fans fuming at Ticketmaster after the sale opened at 10.28 instead of 10.30.

It led to people being repeatedly being kicked out of the queue and lots of fans missing out on tickets.

Um, can we offer you a t-shirt instead?
