SINGAPORE – Shoemaking may sound almost like an ancient tradition in this age of fast and mass-market fashion, but the craft is enjoying a small revival here.

The Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre ( – the training arm of the Textile & Fashion Federation (Taff) – saw 35 students graduate from its footwear design diploma programme in 2018. In 2013, there were only nine graduates.
