Kristin Davis has credited her acting success with saving her from alcohol addiction.
The Sex And The City actress says she never expected to reach 30 after going to rehab to fight her demons at 22.
Kristin, 53, who became best known for playing Charlotte York in 1998, says her love for the profession gave her something more important than dulling her senses.
Kristin says: I dont think I would be alive [without SATC]. Im an addict. Im a recovering alcoholic. If I hadnt found acting… acting is the only thing that made me want to ever get sober.
I didnt have anything that was that important to me other than trying to dull my senses.

Speaking on the Origins With James Andrew Miller, Kristin added: I didnt think I would live to be 30. I started drinking very young and luckily I quit very young, before any success happened, thank goodness.
Because my love for acting was so big when I was very young, I had something that was more important to me than just drinking.
Kristin won her role on SATC at 33, and – along with Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall – became part of the core four on the cult TV series.
Before that, she had some success with roles in Melrose Place and Seinfeld.

But the actress got sober long before she became famous saying in 2008 that she never hid her past.
Explaining her addiction, she said: Alcohol freed me. I was really shy and I didnt know how to come out of my shell.
I drank for the same reason I loved acting. I wanted to feel things and express myself and be free. And Im not naturally that way.
