A reader lists his favourite current gen Xbox exclusive and explains why he never though of selling his Xbox One for a PS4.
Theres a lot of talk nowadays about how bad the Xbox has been this generation, to the point where even Microsoft has admitted theyve dropped the ball in terms of first party exclusives. But it hasnt been a complete disaster, not in my opinion. Ive had an Xbox One since it first came out and while Im willing to admit I backed the wrong horse Id still say Ive had plenty of fun out of it and never really thought of selling it.
The following games are my favourite five exclusives, I wouldve added Cuphead pretty far up the list but its on Switch now so doesnt count anymore. Obviously, all these games are on PC as well so were talking Xbox in the broader sense. Or just console exclusive if you prefer.

5. Gears Of War 4
If the Xbox One had only had a decent Halo then many of its problems probably wouldve seemed a lot less serious but all it had was the okay-ish Halo 5 – the worst numbered sequel in the whole series. To be honest Gears Of War 4 is probably the worst Gears as well but its still good and its just that it plays it safe for most of the time thats the main problem. The graphics are great though and there are some more imaginative sequences towards the end, so Im hopeful they can learn their lessons for number five.
4. Ashen
A really great Dark Souls clone that not many people seem to know about – the fate of most Xbox One exclusives I fear. The graphics are a bit bland but other than that I think this is actually better than most of FromSoftwares games. Building up your own camp and filling it with people that can then be your allies you take with you into dungeons is great and gives a real different feel to other similar games and makes it a bit more like Skyrim.
3. Forza Horizon 4
Easily the best racing game this generation and while thats not up against much competition (except other Forza games) Horizon 4 is still a fantastic game. Great graphics, tons of variety, lots of content, and excellent online. Its mostly an arcade racer but not so much that that it doesnt feel pretty realistic, which is a difficult balance to get right. Between James Bond and Lego even the DLC has been great!

2. Sea Of Thieves
Rightly criticised at launch for not having much content, this has involved into a fantastic game and one that I almost made my number one. At its basic level its pretty much what youd expect from a pirate simulator, with some really fun ship sailing and admittedly so-so combat. But what makes it great is that its all about co-operation.
