Michael B Jordan is gunning for an Oscar for Black Panther – and we dont really blame him.
Speaking about the smash Marvel film, the 31-year-old praised the gang in Wakanda for breaking through so many glass ceilings.
And the Creed 2 star admitted the prestigious gong would be the icing on the cake.
The movie has done such a great job, broke through so many glass ceilings, and made such an impact culturally and around the world, he said.

If the Academy chooses to recognise that project for all of those reasons thats amazing icing on the cake, but I think what the movie has done so far is truly incredible and a win all its own.
Speaking to Essence, he added: I felt so accomplished, but its not up to me to validate the film. So the people who make those decisions, thats something they have to think about and figure out on their own.

Petition to get Black Panther an Oscar starts now.
Michael isnt the only one with his eyes on a gold trophy, with co-star Chadwick Boseman also looking forward to the ceremony.
However, hes adamant that only the best picture gong will do, rubbishing talks of a campaign for the popular film award.

Side note: The Oscars have scrapped plans to introduce the popular category, so Chad wont have to worry about that.
What I can say is that theres no campaign [that we are mounting] for popular film; like, if theres a campaign, its for best picture, and thats all there is to it, the TChalla star said.
We created a world, we created a culture … we had to create a religion, a spirituality, a politics; we had to create an accent; we had to pull from different cultures to create clothing styles and hair styles. Its very much like a period piece.

So, as far as thats concerned, I dare any movie to try to compare to the [level of] difficulty of this one.
We totally agree.
While the nominations havent been announced just yet, Black Panther have been tipped to have some stiff competition from Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born, and Emma Stone and Olivia Coleman from The Favourite.

Were still team Wakanda though…
