Kingdom Hearts 3 is the long-awaited new entry in the hugely popular Kingdom Hearts series – a game that fans have been waiting over 12 years to get their hands on.

The game will see main characters Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy return and travel across a slew of Disney and Final Fantasy worlds in order to battle the ever-encroaching forces of darkness… but are we going to see the game come to PC, or is it locked onto Microsoft and PlayStation consoles for the foreseeable?

Square Enix has only outlined plans for the game to be released on Xbox One and PS4, but we know the publisher is a fan of bringing more titles to PC these days.

Take the company's other recent RPG – Final Fantasy XV. The game saw a release on PC in 2018 after initially releasing on consoles in 2016.

Will Kingdom Hearts 3 come to PC?

It's likely.

It's possible that Square Enix will need to keep the game a console release exclusively for a year or two to appease deals made with Microsoft or Sony, but once the exclusivity period wears off, we may see Square Enix release a port of the game on PC.

There has been no formal information about this announced, though – we're just looking at the history of Square Enix and its process of bringing new titles to PC.

Kingdom Hearts 3 – PC Rumours

Back in early 2018, Square Enixs technical director and lead programmer, Takeshi Aramaki, told RockPaperShotgun that the publisher was considering getting the game on as many platforms as possible.

“I think the rule of the company, the strategy, has very much moved in the direction of trying to get as many of our games out on as many different platforms as possible to reach as many different players as possible, so I think youll definitely be seeing a lot more platforms and a lot more broader release of games in the future.”

Considering the game was built in Unreal Engine 4 – a very PC-friendly engine – we don't think porting the game to PC will be a particularly hard task for the company.
