Katie Price’s mum has revealed that the TV personality offered to give her a lung after finding out she had been diagnosed with an incurable lung condition, but she refused to accept her daughter’s offer.
In a desperate bid to save her life, Katie tried to give mum Amy a lung, but Amy refused in order to ‘protect’ Katie and her family in case anything went wrong.
Speaking to The Mirror, Amy, who hsa idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, revealed Katie told her: ‘Mum, I’m going to give you my lung’.
Amy went on: ‘I said, “No, you’re not going to do that. You’ve got to think if, by any chance, it went wrong, who’s going to look after your kids?
‘”You’ve got to think about your children, not me, and what’s going to happen to them.”‘
Amy added: ‘Of course, I was so touched at her offer. But Kate is my child, not the other way around. I have to protect her. So there will be no lung transplant from Kate. I can’t allow it.’
Katie has struggled publicly with her mum’s diagnosis in the past, and she fears that this weekend could be the last Mother’s Day she spends with Amy.
But the 64-year-old says they are planning on having a ‘big family affair’ like they usually do, and will try to ‘stay positive and embrace the joy that family brings’.
Katie, 39, previously broke down during an appearance on Loose Women to talk about her mum’s illness before Christmas last year. The bad news came around the time she discovered that husband Kieran Hayler had been cheating on her again.
The second series of her reality TV show Katie Price: My Crazy Life, will feature the former glamour model caring for Amy.
Mum-of-five Katie is set to discusse how she balances her work commitments with motherhood as well as her personal battles in the new series, which will air on Quest Red.
