Katie Piper took a moment to reflect on her journey, following her acid attack 10 years ago.

Taking to Instagram, the 35-year-old revealed she was grateful for life as she shared a string of photos from her past Christmas celebrations, showing how much she had changed over the last nine years.

Alongside the photos – from 2009 to present day – the Strictly Come Dancing star wrote: Time flys, mindset changes, new challenges arise but always grateful for life (sic).

Right on cue, fans rushed to praise the mum-of-two over her uploads, with one writing: I have SO much respect for you. You are such an amazing, lovely person.

Wow you are incredible and an inspirational woman! Beautiful right from the soul and outside too, another commented. Thank you for sharing the journey you have taken with us all! Much love to you and your family xxx.

While a follower added: Amazing lady, full of humility, strength, and love. Merry Christmas to your family xx.

Katie suffered life changing injuries in March, 2008, after her obsessive ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch arranged for Stefan Sylvestre to throw acid over her – which left the star fighting for her life.

Lynch was jailed for life, with a minimum of 16 years, for sexually assaulting the model, and Sylvestre was recently released from prison following a parole hearing.

A spokeswoman for the Parole Board said: We can confirm that a panel of the Parole Board directed the release of Mr Stefan Sylvestre following an oral hearing.

Parole Board decisions are solely focused on whether a prisoner would represent a significant risk to the public after release.

The panel will have carefully looked at a whole range of evidence, including details of the original evidence and any evidence of behaviour change.

We do that with great care and public safety is our number one priority.

Katie later revealed how difficult the news was for her, tweeting: This is a really difficult time for me. I am trying to come to terms with the decision and this is something I need to deal with.

Over the past two weeks Strictly has already given me such a welcome and positive distraction from my past.

Whilst there is never a good time to hear this news, I am glad I have this new journey to concentrate on.
