Dame Julie Andrews just received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award at the Venice Film Festival and were getting pretty emotional about it.

The legendary actress, whose acting career has spanned more than 70 years (you cant get more of a lifetime than that!), was presented the award by Call Me By Your Name director Luca Geuadagnino at the 76th international celebration of film.

Im still amazed, Ive been a lucky girl who got to play beautiful roles, the 83-year-old actress said, going on to treat the crowd to a short singing performance in Italian.

I am so honored to have been selected as this years recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.

I thank La Biennale for this acknowledgement of my work and I look forward to being in that beautiful city in September for this very special occasion.

Starting out as a child star in the West End in 1948, Julie has played numerous iconic roles on both stage and screen, originating the part of Mary Poppins and rebellious nun Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music.

For a generation of millennials, the actress is also known for her role in the Princess Diaries films as the Queen of Genovia.

With the first film being released in 2001 and a sequel following in 2004, could a part three be on the way?

According to Anne Hathaway, its a possibility and Julie is definitely on board.

There is a script for the third movie, the actress revealed in January. There is a script. I want to do it. Julie wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen.

Its just [that] we dont want to unless its perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it.
