John Mayer recently celebrated two years of being sober, having his last drink on 23 October, 2016.
And the Your Body Is A Wonderland singer revealed the moment he decided to stop drinking was after Drakes birthday party.
The 41-year-old admitted he made quite a fool of himself at the bash, with the hangover lasting a whopping week.
Oh, I have the most amazing last-night-of-my-life-drinking story. It was Drakes 30th birthday party, and I made quite a fool of myself. It took me weeks to stop doing this every morning I woke up, he explained.
While he didnt quite go into what exactly happened that night, he revealed it made him take stock of his life.
And then I had a conversation with myself. I remember where I was. I was in my sixth day of the hangover. Thats how big the hangover was, he continued. I looked out the window and I went, “OK, John, what percentage of your potential would you like to have? Because if you say youd like 60, and youd like to spend the other 40 having fun, thats fine. But what percentage of what is available to you would you like to make happen? Theres no wrong answer. What is it?” I went, “100.”

That next year, I did four tours, I was in two bands, I was happy on airplanes. So what happens when you stop drinking? The level feels like boredom at first.
But if you stick with it, the line straightens out and it goes kind of low. Youre like, “Oh, Im not having these high highs.” But if you work, you can bring the whole line up, he added to Complex magazine.
John has been pretty open about his life throughout his two-decade long career.
But the New Light singers honesty has previously landed him in some awkward situations.
In fact, during an Instagram Live Q&A session, he accidentally revealed he had sung his own songs during sex.
Which is fair enough, some of those songs are actual bangers…
In a chat with Cazzie David, she asked him if he had ever been asked to play his music during sex.
No, but a girl has asked me to sing some of my songs in, probably, the run up to it, Mayer first said. I probably did – in my early 20s – I probably used my music to hook up a couple times. It doesnt make it any less from the heart.
