Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she dropped out of school at the age of 14 to pursue her acting career, and doesn’t regret it one bit.

The 27-year-old made her first on screen debut when she was cast in the TBS sitcom The Bill Engvall Show, but her big break came in 2010 when she played Ree in Winter’s Bone.

The role landed her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations and since then she has gone on to become the highest-paid actress in the world.

But all of this success came with a cost, as the Hunger Games actress didn’t actually finish school.

Speaking to Bill Whitaker in an upcoming episode of 60 Minutes (via CBS), she said: ‘I struggled through school, I never felt very smart. And when I’m reading this script, and I feel like I know exactly what it would look like if somebody felt that way.’

Jen added: ‘That was a whole part of my brain that I didn’t even know existed. Something that I could be confident in. And I didn’t want to let it go.’

She then went on to reveal that she doesn’t technically have a GED or a diploma, and was self educated since the day she left school.

Lawrence confessed: ‘I wanted to forge my own path. I found what I wanted to do and I didn’t want anything getting in the way of it. Even friends, for many years, were not as important to me as my career from the age of 14.’

Lawrence’s episode of 60 Minutes airs Sunday, Feb. 25 on CBS.
