Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s relationship apparently took a huge hit when the couple found out they couldn’t have children.
The pair allegedly found out that they couldn’t have children early on in their relationship; when Theroux, 46, proposed in 2012, they had hoped to start a family.
According to People, they were both devastated when they found out this news, and this was just one of the factors that led to their break up.
A source told the publication: ‘When Jen met Justin, she had almost given up on the idea that she would have kids.
‘They wanted to have a baby, but it didn’t work out. She has been sad that it never happened, but it never consumer her.’
At the time, they were both apparently going through complications, with Jen, 49, wanting to live in LA, but Justin wanting to live in New York.
The insider revealed that they tried to make it work for many years, and even had therapy to help their relationship. They said that their love stayed strong, however their situation and different interests was what was drawing them apart.
The source said: ‘She feels sad and disappointed. She didn’t expect to be single again.’
Aniston and Theroux announced their split earlier this month in a joint statement which read: ‘In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation.
‘This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.’

On the run up to their split, the couple seemed happier than ever as they welcomed in the New Year with some close friends in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
They had been together for just under seven years and were married for two of these.
