International Women’s Day: Sony’s FREE PS4 theme for game fans around the world

Sony has released a PS4 theme to celebrate International Women's Day – and better yet, it's absolutely free.

The theme can be downloaded right now from the PlayStation Store, and features a slew of famous female PlayStation characters that will decorate your PS4 home page.

The design features Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross of Uncharted fame, Aloy from last year's breakout hit Horizon Zero Dawn, Kara from the David Cage's upcoming Detroit: Become Human, an older-looking Ellie from The Last of Us and finally, the little pink creature from Media Molecule's Dreams.

Speaking of Media Molecule, the studio's artist, Maja-Lisa Kehlet (currently hard at work on Dreams, as it happens) is credited with designing the theme.

It's a nice touch from PlayStation, and is a decent way of celebrating a date that's getting more and more attention every year.

PS4 update version 5.50 changes: supersampling, library hide options, custom wallpapers

SONY has detailed the changes coming in the PS4's 5.50 update, including supersampling, library hide options and custom wallpapers.

This comes as players are getting the PS4's newest update drop on their consoles.

Earlier this month Sony released the latest major update for the PlayStation 4 system, which has moved from beta to the consoles live servers.

The update weighs in at a measly 459MB but brings with it a whole load of cool features to the system.

Previously when showcasing the features Sony told fans:

"In 5.50, we’re introducing Play Time Management, Library UI updates, further enhancements to the Quick Menu, and much more."

You can take a closer look to see how these features will look on your PlayStation using the gallery below, but if you keep reading you'll get a full breakdown of what each new feature does.

Aside from the below features, it's possible that there could be a few more sneaky updates mixed in with the rollout for the 5.50 update.

However, we won't know if there is anything else until some clever clogs happen upon it while using the system.

Needless to say though, the second we learn more we'll be sure to update you.

Elsewhere online, we're also seeing other tech giants celebrate International Women's Day.

12 female artists from across the globe have been selected to portray their work in the Google Doodle – showing off their incredible work.

The women are from 12 different countries – from countries such as Japan and Pakistan – and they all have different stories to tell.

Google frequently celebrate the achievements of extraordinary women throughout history, and today they want to celebrate the stories and voices of everyday women across the world.

The female artists are from different backgrounds and are sharing their personal stories through their Doodles.

Each story represents a moment, person, or event that has impacted their lives as women.

Google says: “While each artist tells a unique story, the themes are universal, reminding us of how much we often have in common.

“We hope that the combined power of words and images help bring these stories to life in a way that invokes feelings of understanding, empathy and spirit of the day.”
