Call of Duty Black Ops 3 may contain Call of Duty 2018 Black Ops 4 clues

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 hasn't been announced yet, but there are various pieces of evidence that point to the title being the next entry in the series from Activision and Treyarch.

We've already seen teasers this week in the form of hats and retail leaks, but maybe something that already exists in a previous Call of Duty game can point to news about next title in the esteemed FPS series.

Earlier this week, Treyarch updated the last game it developed in the Call of Duty series – Black Ops III. It was an announcement that seemingly came out of nowhere, too. The timing for this is suspicious.

Interestingly, just before the Black Ops III announcement, Black Ops II was also updated to have Snapchat QR codes in some of the multiplayer maps.

Following these QR codes lead players to a viral marketing campaign that was spread across various social platforms, teasing bytes of information about the new game ahead of its announcement.

Fans are currently scouring the new snowy Redwood map for hints at something nodding towards Black Ops IIII (or IV), and they're also combing through the campaign to see what's different there.

A reddit thread is compiling all the differences so far, and what they could mean, but nothing solid has been uncovered just yet.

We're keeping our eye on the progress of this intel-finding mission, and we'll keep you updated as soon as anything is uncovered.

Take a look at 22 of the biggest and best looking new games coming to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2018 and beyond.SONY Spider-Man

This comes after news about Activision and Treyarch's next game broke earlier in the week.

It seems like more and more teasers are going public as Activision ramps up to the game's official announcement.

Earlier this week, a hat worn by NBA superstar James Harden seems to have confirmed the logo for Black Ops 4.

As seen at the link, the hat's logo has plenty of similarities with the logo for Call of Duty: Black Ops III – though it's interesting to note the design has gone for the 'IIII' aesthetic, rather than the roman numeral 'IV' which we were expecting.

Activision still hasn't formally mentioned anything about Call of Duty 2018 yet, but you can definitely expect to hear more about the game soon.

NEW Xbox One Games rumoured to be in development

A selection of games rumoured to be in development, as leaked by Resetera user Klobrille.

This follows information from a trusted Call of Duty-based website, CharlieIntel, which recieved anonymous tips from an employee claiming they're from GameStop, showing new listings of various Black Ops 4 merchandise listed in the retailer's database.

According to the tipster, there are listings in the GameStop system for lanyards, as well as various other listings for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 related clothing.

Thought the listings currently say that there are 0 of each item in stock, if this leak is real then it's clear GameStop is starting to stock up its stores ahead of the game's reveal and eventual release.

Activision has not yet stated what Call of Duty 2018 is formally going to be, though it is TreyArch's 'turn' to make a game in the yearly rotation.

This all comes as a new update adds Redwood Snow and the Infected mode to Call of Duty: Black Ops III – seemingly out of nowhere.

Despite being released in 2015, the developer has dropped a surprise new update into the game this week.

The first addition, Redwood Snow, is a wintery version of one of the game's most popular maps, Redwood.

The second addition, Infected, is a game mode familiar to CoD players that sees one player drop in as an infected unit, who is tasked with infecting everyone else in the game by killing them.

Though this update is only small, it shows a commitment to the game by the developer – something that's certainly nice to see close to the inevitable reveal of the next game.
