Games with Gold July 2019 Free Xbox One Games News: Major Nelson reveal imminent (Pic: MICROSOFT)
Xbox One owners know what time of the month it is. That's right, time to start counting down the days until Microsoft's Major Nelson unveils the new selection of free Games with Gold titles.
In fact, we could see an announcement this weekend if we're really lucky. This will arrive either in the form of a leak ahead of time via the Xbox dashboard (as so often is the case) or with an official announcement from the big man himself.
The existing selection of Xbox Games with Gold titles for June are only available for the next nine days, but typically we see Microsoft reveal the new Games with Gold titles well in advance.
At the time of writing, there haven't been too many hints as to what we can expect from Microsoft in July, but we've actually got a few predictions to share.
If you know us, you'll know that normally we don't like to share Games with Gold predictions.
That's because there's genuinely no formula for suggesting what games Xbox could look to include.
It's potluck at the best of times, no matter how much logic you apply to it. For example: 'Gears 5 will launch soon, ergo, Gears 4 COULD be included in Games with Gold.'
We try not to prescribe to that thinking. However, (here we go), just for this one month, we're breaking that promise. But we have feel it's a good enough reason.
Normally Microsoft has made good on their promise to include older titles in the Games with Gold lineup.
It makes sense. Why make titles backwards compatible if you can't show them off.
This also includes the original Xbox titles which have been included fairly frequently with each passing months. Especially those Star Wars titles, which have been included on more than one occasion.
However, we strongly suspect that Xbox will look to include one or more of their newly announced backwards compatible titles which were quietly revealed earlier this month during E3.
Even if they don't they might look to include one of the existing backwards compatible titles that also received new downloadable content packs free of charge.
There was also a slew of new Xbox 360 titles added; from the likes of Asuras Wrath to Skate 3.
Look we're not afraid to admit this is a bit of a guess. It's no more authoritative than any of those other prediction pieces you read.
But personally, we think it makes sense for Xbox to give one or two of these new games away as another way to shout about the good work they've done.
Especially with the Xbox backwards compatibility work pretty much put on ice as the team look to convert Xbox One games to the upcoming Xbox Scarlett system.
