Streaming service Project xCloud may be getting its own hardware add-on, as a patent reveals plans for a smartphone controller.
Call Of Duty battle royale and Black Ops 5 planned for 2020 claim rumours
Ever since Microsoft entered the video games business fans have been wondering whether theyll ever make a portable console and now it looks like they might… sort of.
The patent thats been discovered is for the charger, rather than the controller itself, which suggests Microsoft has been trying to keep the actual device a secret.
How it seems to work is that two Joy-Con-esque controllers latch onto either side of your smartphone, when held horizontally, allowing games to be controlled much like a Nintendo Switch.
Project xCloud promises to allow you to play any Xbox game on any device but that doesnt really work on a smartphone if it only has touchscreen controls.

That worked fine in the demo we played at E3 but its not very portable and this patent seems to describe something a lot easier to carry around with you.
