Im not buying these rumours about the mini Switch, after all the Joy-Cons are small enough already individually, when horizontal, I cant imagine how awkward they would be if they were to be any smaller. Maybe a reader could 3D print one on a smaller scale and let us know?
The irony of all this though is that we now have a Nintendo home console that many claim to be the end of Nintendos handheld market, which is now rumoured to be getting smaller. Yet they spent the best part of the last handheld generation trying to make the console bigger.
This does make me think though and, yes, I know predicting Nintendo is often futile.
I dont think its beyond the realms of possibility that Nintendo are working on new hardware though, but I think it might be a new handheld. If you think about it making a smaller Switch is not the same as making a slimmer version of a console that sits under your TV, its small enough already. Making a handheld about the size of a 3DS XL maybe with bendable screen would make more sense.
It could be a handheld in its own right yet imagine if it could be docked into the Switch so you could play it on your tv if you so wished using the joycons and we all know how Nintendo love connectivity. If it sells well it could turn even more heads to the Switch.
Of course nothing would stop companies from making a dock that uploads the signal to a TV but if Nintendo where to release free downloads that utilise both consoles you would then need both consoles to play
